1. Fill out an Application

Sign up for your areas of interest, such as:

  • Show dogs at various events and locations
  • Help potential adopters at the kennel
  • Help keep the shelter clean and tidy
  • Walk and socialize the dogs
  • Become a foster family
  • Meet wonderful people who match your passion for dogs

Come play outside with our dogs.

2. Attend an Orientation

Start by calling or emailing K9 to sign up for the next orientation:

Dates: 3rd Saturday of each month
Time: 10:00-11:15 a.m.
Place: K9 Stray Rescue League

Agenda:
I. History & Mission
II. High-level walk through of Volunteer Handbook Policies
III. Volunteer Roles/Opportunities
IV. Tour

3. Know Age Requirements

  • Volunteers less than 18 years of age require signed approval of a parent/legal guardian and must be at least 16 years old.
  • Parent volunteers may bring their own children under 16 years old with them while they volunteer. However, parents must assume all responsibility for the children and at no time may the children be in control of any dog.
  • Youth Groups (e.g., Scouts, 4H) wanting to volunteer are encouraged to hold an outside activity such as bottle drives, collecting newspapers, supplies, etc. and then arrange for a time to come drop off the donations and take a tour of the facility.

Foster Families:

  • Bring a K9 dog into your home and provide security, training, socialization and love to a discarded animal
  • Assist in providing quality information to potential adopters regarding your foster
  • Help in finding the “right fit” for a loving, life-long home
  • Give a momma dog a safe, comfortable place to have her babies
  • Interested in fostering?  Attend our volunteer orientation to learn more
