Cathy Stephens, certified trainer and owner of Canine Etiquette, LLC, has teamed up with HOPE for Animals and offers half-price training classes to all dogs adopted through our organization.  We are proud to announce two recent successful adoptions of "Kona" (formerly "Eli") and "Gypsy."  Kona was adopted by Chris and his family who wanted a great family pet and knew Labs had a great temperament. They were passionate about rescuing and fell in love with Kona at first site; he became a part of their family immediately.  Initially, they had trouble with Kona jumping on family members and basically wanted a well-trained family pet. 

     Meanwhile, Gypsy was rescued by Ellen and her family after the hurricane in 2008.  Ellen fostered Gypsy since the HOPE kennels were destroyed and no other foster homes were available.  Ellen wanted to adopt Gypsy but she felt she and Gypsy needed assistance in communicating with each other. 


     Chris, Kona, Ellen, and Gypsy all attended training classes with Canine Etiquette.  Not only did they graduate with "paws up," but they both received the honor of being named the first HOPE dogs to become AKC STAR puppies.  The star puppy program is offered by Canine Etiquette to reward clients for attending training sessions with their puppies.  Upon completing the course, the graduates receive a certificate from Canine Etiquette as well as a star puppy medal and Star Puppy certificate from AKC.
 
     Gypsy and Kona learned how to sit, stay, come on command, and many other great leadership techniques like walking on leash.  Gypsy came out of her shell and learned how to trust and respect Ellen, and Ellen learned how to communicate with Gypsy to let her know what she wanted from her.  Ellen and Gypsy were both so excited after the classes that Ellen adopted Gypsy into her family the same day of graduation from obedience school.
 
     All dogs live by the same rules, including rescue dogs.  They have the same desire to be loved and become part of a family.  We are so happy for Kona and Gypsy that their dreams were answered and they are part of a loving, caring family!  Thank you Chris and Ellen for adopting from HOPE for Animals!
