"Ending cruelty, Giving hope"

Hi, all!  Blue here, reminding you about the importance of keeping your pets cool this summer!  We need LOTS of water, shade, and it's imperative that we NEVER be left in a car, even with the windows down.  (See the ASPCA's recommendations for preventing heat strokes in pets.)  Please take good care of us in this unbearable heat.  Thank you!

ANOTHER HAPPY ENDING!

HOPE is delighted by yet another perfect match--"Oreo" and his forever owner, Gareth, who was kind enough to share his experience with us.  Thank you, Gareth, for adopting a needy animal into your heart and home.  People like you make the difference in the lives of homeless cats and dogs!

DONATIONS NEEDED FOR LUCIA'S VET COSTS!

Meet sweet Lucia, an eight-month-old pup who's had a rough start in life beginning with her mother (Juliet) being abandoned just days before giving birth to her pups.  Fortunately,  a HOPE member found the very pregnant mother and took her in.  When Lucia was about six-weeks-old, her mother accidentally stepped on her eye, causing irreparable damage--the eye had to be surgically removed.  Since then, Lucia has battled with numerous infections to the area where her eye once was.  She has had to wear a drain (like the one in the photos) on several occasions while having to take strong antibiotics to fight infection.  This darling pup has been a trooper through it all, and her medical problems have not slowed her down one bit.  She is a playful pup with the sweetest personality (and very smart to boot!).  Check out the Youtube video of Lucia at play.  It is not certain if another surgery will be necessary at this time, but if infection continues to be a problem, surgery will be likely.  If you would like to contribute to Lucia’s mounting vet costs, please specify donations to "Lucia’s fund."  This wonderful baby is available for adoption.  For more information concerning Lucia,  please send an email to meacat at mobiletel dot com. Thank you for your generosity.

"Kona" and "Gypsy" are HOPE's current Success Stories!

UPDATE!

"Benny," the precious Prairieville Boston Terrier mix who had been cruelly burned by either chemicals or hot liquids, is still in need of a loving, caring home!  Unfortunately, after Hurricane Gustav, Benny was attacked by a dog and lost of one his eyes as a result of the damage.  However, this playful, affectionate boy is well now and ready for his forever, adult-only home!  If you are interested in making this special boy a part of your life, or if you'd like to donate money for his vet expenses, please call Ascension Animal Advocates at 225-315-3438.  Thank you!

ATTENTION CARTRIDGE COLLECTORS!

We need your help!  HOPE for Animals is using ecyclegroup.com to recycle printer cartridges.  Here you can find a list of toner cartridges we can use to help fund our organization.  Also, any cartridge that reads "replacement" or "compatible" has already been refilled, and we cannot use these.  Please note that we can also use old cell phones.  Please call Vicki at 985-447-3821 if you have any questions.  Thank you for your continuing support of this program.

Don't be a "throw-away" pet owner!  Consider the sacrifices before adopting!

"Free to good home" too often means a death sentence.
