Below are
some of HOPE's rescued dogs who are waiting for their "forever homes"
and families who will give them the love they so deserve. All of
our dogs have been given their original vaccinations, are on heartworm
preventive, and are neutered or spayed, unless otherwise noted.
HOPE requires that all adoptive homes have fenced-in back yards. A
$55 adoption fee is required for each animal, and pre-adoption home
checks,
adoption applications, and adoption contracts are necessary for each dog. If you
fall in love with one of our dogs but are unable to take him or her into
your home, please consider
sponsorship.

Name:
Angel
Age: 2 to
3 years
Gender/Breed: female Sheltie/Golden Retriever mix
Sponsored by:
Jessica Guidry
Bio: "When we were little babies, my sister and I lived
in a drainage ditch until a wonderful HOPE volunteer rescued us. My
sister is brave, so she found herself a wonderful forever home, but I am
shy, and the world scares me. My foster mom says I am getting better,
and I come for a hug and a kiss...oh, and of course a treat...from
people I trust. My human says I’m way too pretty and sweet to hide
under the couch, so I am trying to be more social. I like it when she
talks to me and tells me
what a good dog I am. I am
housetrained and don’t jump on the furniture. I love playing with soft,
furry, doggie toys. Foster mom says I need a lot of attention and love
from a special, patient human (or two) who can give me one-on-one
attention. Children really scare me because they can be loud and fast.
I do like all other dogs, but I’d be better with a young pup or an
older, quiet, docile dog that would not be mean to me. Do you have the
love to be my human Angel? Please call 985-580-0546."
Name:
Bandit
Age: 1 year
Gender/Breed: Spaniel mix
Best Friend: Vanessa
Bio: "Nope, it's not makeup--my face is naturally marked
with a
beautiful, brown mask. I am fully grown (small to
medium-sized), and I just love to play with my kennel friend Vanessa.
I am currently undergoing heartworm treatment, but I plan to be fully
recuperated by Christmas, just in time for lots of presents and treats.
Want to get to know me better? Please call 985-447-9454."

Bio:
"I was rescued from a garbage dump as a pup and came to live at
HOPE's kennel. Although I've been well taken care of here, I have
never had a home of my own. I would love to have a family and
someone to play ball with me. Am I the match you've been looking
for? Please call 985-447-9454."

Name:

Age: 2 - 3 years
Gender/Breed: male Pit mix

Guidry
Bio: "I found my rescuer at the intersection of two busy
highways. I'm so glad she helped me, despite my looks at the
time--I had a terrible skin condition and heartworms, so I wasn't the
most attractive guy. Since then, HOPE has taken excellent care of
me, and now I'm as
handsome and healthy as any of the New
Orleans Saints' defensive ends! I would do best with a family that
will make sure I have obedience training, since
I'm a gentle guy, but I
just don't realize how strong I am. I have a wonderful personality
and just love everyone I meet. Want more information? Please
call 985-447-9454."
Names:
Boogie and Tootsie
Age: 5-8 years
Gender/Breed: Boogie (left)--male Jack Russell Terrier mix;
Tootsie (right)--female mix
Bio: "We've been together since we were pups and have been
badly neglected for the past 5 years. When we were rescued, we
were in desperate need of some TLC and human affection. Now, we're
healthy, happy, and looking for a family that can love us both--we
simply cannot be separated.
We're very friendly and well-behaved, and
although we're a bit older, we've sure got spunk! We love to take
walks any time of day and do better around adults and older teens since
we didn't grow up around young children. Is yours the family that
can love us forever? Please call 337-344-3718."
Name:
Buddy
Age: 6 months
Gender/Breed: male Hound mix
Sponsored by: Sabrina Watson
Bio: "Sadly, my owner was moving, and she would only take
her fancy, inside dog with her, so I was taken in to live with some new
buddies at HOPE's kennel. This place is really nice, and I've made
some great friends (especially Abigail and Carli), but the girls have
way too much attitude
for a medium-sized guy like me. I
sure would like a family of my very own. How about yours?
Want to discuss new living arrangements? Please call
985-447-9454."
Name:
Charlie
Age: 1 year
Gender/Breed: male Dachshund/Beagle mix
Sponsored by: Leslie Guedry
Bio: "I'm an
adorable guy on the search for the family I'll
love forever. It may be hard to believe, but someone just dropped
me off to fend for myself. I've got lots and lots of energy and
will need a home without small children or cats. Since I've been
outside for so long, I'm not yet house-trained. Can we arrange a
get-together? Please call 985-855-4185."

Age: 9 months
Gender/Breed: male Lab mix

Law Office, & Jamie Davis
Bio: "My mom and all of my brothers and sisters were sent
to the pound, but I was saved by my guardian angel. Unfortunately,
she does not have a fenced-in yard and couldn't properly care for me, so
HOPE has helped me to relocate. I'm a
medium-sized boy
with lots of love and loyalty to give away. I am currently making
lots of friends (the furry type and humans), but would love to have a
family of my own some day. Could it be yours? Please call
985-447-9454."
Name:
Deuce
Age: 10 months
Gender/Breed: male Lab mix
Bio: "I am one fun-loving, ball-catching sweetheart of a
guy. I just love a good game of fetch (like any respectable Lab),
and a cool dip in
my foster family's fountain. I sleep in my crate all
night long and love to play with other dogs. Want to schedule a
play date? Please call 985-448-0584."

Gender/Breed: male miniature Newfoundland/Lab mix

Bio:
"I love being inside, and am perfectly housetrained. I
know sit, stay, down, no, come and back and also to stay off of the
furniture. I am very careful never to knock anything over -- even the
little sparkly things on the coffee table. I love to lay with my paws
crossed and watch TV -- especially if there is a human for me to be next
to. My favorite thing in the world is a back scratch, accompanied by a
big hug and some play. I shed very little, and I will sit for a
brushing because I really like the attention. Even bath time is fun for
me because it is more time with my human. I haven't met a dog I didn't
like, and if you have an older guy or girl that needs a companion, I'm
the one, because I always respect my elders. Do we match? Please call 985-580-0546 or
985-223-9265."
Name:
Gus
Age: 1 year
Gender/Breed: male Dachshund/Pug mix
Best Friend: J.J.
Bio: "Looking for a small guy with a huge personality?
I'm your man!
I appreciate the outdoors, but I love to cuddle inside at night.
Since I'm still a pup, chew toys are an absolute necessity for me.
My foster humans say I'm crate-trained and use a doggie door with ease.
J.J. and I do everything together...fetch, run in the yard, eat, and
share food and toys. We'd be a great match together.
Interested in meeting me? Please call 985-447-9454."

Bio: "I had a home once, but after I had babies of my own, I
was taken away from them and then pushed out of a car on a country road.
Luckily for me, a kind and warm-hearted man rescued me from a
potentially miserable and short existence, and now I'm ready for my
forever home, preferably one without small children. (I was just
this past Christmas
asking
Santa to bring me my perfect
family this year.) I am a sweet girl with lots of energy. I
just love to take walks and spend time with my kennel people. Think I'm
adorable? Please call 985-447-9454."
Name:
Laila
Age: 1 year
Gender/Breed: female Lab
Bio: "I'm a calendar girl, just too beautiful to describe!
I'm accustomed to being in a home environment, but I've easily adapted
to kennel life with my new four-legged friends. I'm a true
sweetheart and deserve a loving home of my own. Can you picture me
laying in front of a warm fire in your home this winter? Please
call 985-447-9454."

Mac
Age: 2 years
Gender/Breed: Beagle mix

Bio:
"I was found on Canal Boulevard in front of La Casa.
I almost got hit by passing cars so many times because I would run up to
the vehicles to get in when they slowed down near me. I am very
much still a puppy and need a nice, fenced-in yard in which to run
around. Can you give me the love and attention I deserve?
Please call 985-855-4185 or 985-447-9454."

Bio: "I came in to HOPE's program
after being abandoned in my now foster family's front yard. Do you
want a sweet, playful, well-behaved addition to your family? I
could be your man. I get along well with other dogs and love to
play fetch. Do you want to take me to your forever home?
Please call 985-798-7664 or fill out an

application and email it to meacat at mobiletel dot com."
Name:
Nicole
Age: 1 year
Gender/Breed: female Fox Terrier
Bio: "I was running all over Nicholls State University one
morning, anxious to find someone who would show me some compassion and
bring me home. Unfortunately, someone on campus called animal
control and had me picked up and brought to the pound. Luckily,
HOPE for Animals busted me out and saved my life. Now, I'm working
on making progress with crate- and housetraining.
I'm a total
sweetheart and love playing with dogs much larger than I am. My
humans say I'm curious about cats, but I've quickly learned to respect
them. I think everything is a toy, including brooms, rakes, and
other large things.
Have I stolen your heart? Please call

Bio: "Just a few short months ago, I was a neglected,
abandoned, skinny fellow fending for myself. A kind man befriended
me and led me into HOPE's care. With a little TLC, I have been
transformed into a
beautiful, healthy boy with a dark chocolate brown and white
coat and a super sweet personality, hence my name. I love
playing with all of my kennel friends, but I just adore human hugs.
Got a sweet tooth? Please call 985-447-9454."

Name:
Roscoe
Age: 2 years
Gender/Breed: male Lab
Bio: "Tall, dark, and handsome--that's me! Once an
indoor pet, I was left on the balcony of a small apartment with no food
until a HOPE angel came to rescue me. I'm finished my heartworm
treatment and am healthy, raring to go to my forever home with a
fenced-in yard. I walk well on a leash, but I'd do best with some
obedience training (visit
www.canineetiquette.org). Want
more dish on me? Please call 985-447-9454."
Name:
Rose
Age: 4 years
Gender/Breed: female Pointer
Sponsored by: Karen Terrebonne
Bio:
"It's been a long time since I was rescued from the streets,
terribly thin and full of bite marks, but since I've been in HOPE's
care, I've blossomed, just like a rose...oh my gosh--did I really say
that? I'm in a very loving foster home now and have learned to
potty outside and have wonderful indoor manners. I absolutely love
to run in the yard but enjoy sleeping under the covers at night. I
am also getting crate-trained so I can be the perfect pet when my
forever family comes for me. Do you think we could be the perfect
match? Please call 985-447-9454."
Name:
Simon
Age: 1 year
Gender/Breed: male Hound mix
Sponsored by: Myra LeBlanc
Bio: "My rescuer saved me from being brought to the animal
shelter but couldn't keep me, since she has several pets of her own.
I am a
medium-sized fellow who loves to run in the yard with the big
guys. I have beautiful eyes and the sweetest face you'll ever see.
The vet even said I'm heartworm-negative! Could you give me the
warm home I dream about on these cold, winter nights? Please call
985-447-9454."
Name:
Snoopy
Age: 4 years
Gender/Breed: male Beagle mix
Sponsored by: Myra LeBlanc
Bio: "I was so lost, I didn't know what to do, so I just
stayed around some nice ladies who live in a Bayou Blue neighborhood.
Unbeknownst to me, they were HOPE volunteers, so I lucked out! My
new humans said I looked well cared for, so they tried to find my
family, but it was no use--no one claimed me. Since I've been put
in the HOPE program, it was discovered that I have heartworms, but I'm
getting treatment right now, and I'll be ready for a new home really,
really soon! My favorite things are playing with humans and
getting lots of love! True to my breed, I like to sniff around, so
my nose is always on the ground....I think that's where my name comes
from. My foster mom says I need a yard in which to roam, and I'd
like a big rug in the living room to spend time with my family. Do
you want to spoil me? Please call 985-446-2545."
Name:
Tucker
Age: 4 years
Gender/Breed: male Husky mix
Sponsored by: Joey Hebert & Chaz Daigle
Bio: "I hate to brag, but I might just be the
handsomest guy
at the kennel. My HOPE humans know how much I love to walk, so
they find the time to take me several times a week. I've been at
the kennel for a while, so I am really yearning for a place of my
own. If you have a fenced-in yard, no other pets, and want a
really affectionate companion, I would love to meet you. Would you
like my autograph? Please call 985-447-9454."
Name:
Vanessa
Age: 1 years
Gender/Breed: female Lab
Bio: "I'm a loving, sweet, gentle girl whose family decided
not to take me with them when they moved. Amazingly, I'm
well-adjusted, affectionate, and I get along well with other dogs.
I'm not accustomed to cold, winter nights and wonder when my time will come
to stay inside where I can be nice and warm. Are you the answer to
my prayers? Please call 985-447-9454."
