Who We Are

carol.jpg (110495 bytes)For The Animals Foundation has been a compassionate presence in the South Bay for over 20 years. We are an all-volunteer, non-profit organization founded in 1983. Our primary mission is two-fold:

(1) We promote public awareness of the importance for spaying/neutering of all pets including cats, dogs, rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, pet rats, etc. This is key to reducing the critical pet over population. L.A. County alone puts to death over 221,000 innocent animals each year because there are no homes for them. Tragically, this figure keeps growing.

(2) For The Animals volunteers visit local shelters where we rescue dogs who are about to be euthanized because no one has adopted them. We purchase those that we feel have a good chance to be adopted. We then bathe, groom, nurse them to good health when required, have them spayed or neutered, and provide them their shots. Finally, we care for them in volunteer doggie foster homes where they get lots of love until someone, like you, adopts them.

We are all pet loving volunteers. Your help as a caring volunteer as well as tax deductible donations are always welcome and needed to help us continue this essential activity. 100% of donations go to benefit the animals.

Foundation head Wanda Harmon is a registered breed rescuer for Bichon Frise, Dachshund, Maltese, and Yorkshire Terriers.

For The Animals Foundation holds dog adoptions every Saturday. Also, please see our Adoption Information page for details on how to adopt a dog.
