2006 Compassion in Action Awards Dinner
The third annual Compassion in Action Awards Dinner was held Friday June 2, 2006 to honor Dr. Raymond Pludow, and North Fork School teacher, Nancy McPherson. Dinner was at Sierra Sky Ranch. Custom Stones were awarded to both recipients to recognize their their extrodidenary work. The stones will be placed along the River Walk in Oakhurst.
2006 Animal Faire and Tails on the Trail

For the second year, we will combine our two biggest events......Tails on the Trail, and Animal Faire. Sign up for the Tails on the Trail dog walk will begin at 9am at the gazebo in the Oakhurst Community Park, with the beautiful 1 mile walk along the Fresno River beginning at 9:30am. Walkers are encouraged to collect donations from friends and family and will be eligible to win valuable prizes for most donations collected by an adult or youth. Sign up forms are available at The Cat's Meow in Oakhurst, or Best Friends Pet Grooming in North Fork. You will also find them at many businesses in the area. The adult and youth turning in ther most donations will be awarded valuable prizes...listen for the winning fundraisers to be introduced at noon during the Animal Faire!
Following the walk, join us for the 6th Annual Animal Faire. There will be contests every half hour, interesting demos all day, booths, food and fun! Bring your dog and your family and enjoy the day at the Oakhurst Community Park just off Hwy 41. Admission for the Animal Faire is $1 per person (in exchange, you will receive a raffle ticket). Contest entry fees are $5, or $35 for all. Feature your dogs talents in Best Kiss, Happiest Way, Musical Sit, 60 Second Ball Catch, All American Dog Show, Best Costume, Sierra Star Newspaper Fetch, and Best Trick. First, second and third prizes will be awarded for all contests.
Be sure to be there at 1pm as Father Gordon Kamai offers the blessing of the animals. You will enjoy watching Leap of Faith Flyball Team, Canine Agility Team, and Just Ducky Herding Group as they demonstrate their dogs' talents during the day. Pick up a snack while you are enjoying the events. Food by Jersey Dogs and Kettle Korn.
Don't miss the Giant Raffle with more that 125 valuable items. Tickets are $1 each, 6 for $5, and 30 for $20. Drawing for the raffle prizes will be at 3:30pm. Our local businesses have been very generous in donating raffle items and in sponsoring our contests. We hope that you will offer them your support by shopping with them.
All proceeds from the Tails on the Trail Dog Walk and Animal Faire will benefit the programs to help needy animals in the mountain area...thank you for your generous support!
